Medical Power of Attorney is an instrument in which you name
agents to make medical decisions on your behalf if you become so
incapacitated that you can not make your own medical decisions.
They can hire and fire doctors, choose which hospital you would
go to as well as to choose what is the best medical treatment
for you in the condition that you are in.

Financial Power of Attorney is a very similar instrument except
that you are naming agents to make financial decisions for you
such as to write checks out of your account, deposit checks in
your account, sell your car, sign off on your tax returns or
even encumber your property to get money to pay bills.

are two basic types: 1. Medical power of Attorney and 2.
Financial Power of Attorney. In each type you will name agents.
The agents are the persons that you are choosing to make
decisions on your behalf. The medical power of attorney becomes
effective upon you becoming unable to make decisions on your
behalf. The financial power of attorney can be set up to become
effective upon you inability to make decisions on your behalf or
it may become effective immediately upon you signing the
document. You must be competent at the time that you execute
either of the power of attorneys.
